StitchFix #6

I got my most recent delivery from Stitch Fix back in May before we went to Florida. With all the travelling I've been doing lately, I haven't had a chance to tell you about it until now. I know it seems like I just got one, and I kind of did (in April). Actually, you can sign up to get them monthly but I don't have that kind of money or space in my closet.

Collective Concepts, Mara Chevron Print & Colorblocked Tank, $58

I really liked the print and color of this tank when I pulled it out of the box. I had specifically requested some items that would be good in Florida and I think this fit the bill. The fabric is a lightweight chiffon but it wasn't see through.

However, the color block at the bottom didn't do me any favors and it's the same color as a blouse I received and kept a couples fixes back.

41Hawthorn, Alessandra Striped & Colorblocked Blouse, $54

This navy and neon yellow tank was like nothing in my closet. I really liked the length and it's racerback. Unfortunately, I didn't think it was very flattering on me. A bit too tent-like.

Verdict: Return

Papermoon, Lupita Colorblocked Cross-back Tank, $48

I really loved this one! The colors were unlike anything in my closet. The style was totally new to me. They included a white tank to wear underneath since it is completely sheer. I loved the cross back detail too.

Unfortunately, the craftsmanship on this one was a bit off. There were some seams that seemed unfinished and if I'm spending $50 on a tank top, I'd like the quality to be top notch. Because I was also trying to be judicious and questioned how often I could really wear this (i.e. not to the office).....

Verdict: Return

Under Skies, Olivina Hooded Slub Knit Cardigan, $58

I've actually been needing an outer layer for summer. You don't always want a heavier hoodie or jacket if it's cool at night. I thought this would be perfect for air travel too. Must have layers on a plane. The slub knit is the perfect weight and I dig the pockets.

Eight Sixty, Kanni Highlow Printed Maxi Dress, $128

And last but not least, a fancy gown for you!

 I adore the Aztec print on this one and the gold hardware at the neckline. It's something I never would have selected on my own but loved it the instant I put it on. It was pretty sheer and has a cotton underlayer for more coverage.

I also really liked the hi-low hem. You could easily belt this for a different look too. Unfortunately, it was well out of my budget. And $30 over the price points I sent. Stitch Fix -- STOP DOING THIS TO ME! Do they honestly think I'm going to throw caution to the wind and pay more than I ever inteded? I guess so or they wouldn't price these things so high. I see plenty of other fixes at lower prices that I love so I don't know what's happening here.

Verdict: Return

Had I kept all five pieces, the cost would have been $244.50 with the 25% discount. Still well over anything I would pay for one shopping trip. I was glad not to have received any accessories in this one though. I don't need any more jewelry or scarves right now.

Interesting turn of events after I posted my last Fix review......a commenter said she also received a few of the pieces I did not keep because they were too expensive. However, they were priced well below (like $60 below) what they were for me. What the heck, StitchFix? I intend to get to the bottom of this. For now, I'm taking a break from them. I don't need any summer clothes right now anyway. But, I'll probably be back......

Stitch Fix #5

Time to go in-home shopping again! I set my fifth Stitch Fix to arrive just a couple days after my birthday as a little gift to myself. That probably wasn't the most responsible thing for me to do but I did it anyway.

Want to see what I got? Of course, you do. Otherwise you wouldn't be here!  As I was editing these pictures, I realized I definitely should have slapped on a bit of lipstick. Hindsight.

Pomelo - Corinna Striped Dolman Top, $48

The fabric on this was soft and comfortable and I liked the color but it is a bit muted heading into the cheery colors of spring I typically gravitate towards. The fit was fine but this is the third dolman sleeve top they've sent me in a row. I kept the first but returned the second. How many dolmans does a girl need? I liked it but I didn't $48 like it.

Daniel Rainn - Axis Geo Print Crochet Detail Blouse, $68

I love the graphic print on this one and I don't really have many (if any) black and white pieces so it would fill a void in my wardrobe. The length in the back is really nice. You can't really see it but the detailing at the neck with a metal clasp adds a fun, unexpected feature. I think it'll be good at the office under a cardigan and for wearing out and about with bright crops or shorts.

Verdict: Keep

Leota - Tyra Geo Print Faux Wrap Dress, $158

I love everything about this dress. The color is vibrant. The print is graphic. The fit was flattering. John went nuts for it. I love everything except the price. ONE HUNDRED FIFTY EIGHT DOLLARS!!! I was actually really upset that it cost so much considering my Style Profile has a $50-$100 price range and this far surpassed that. I could not even begin to justify the cost on this one. But, it does make me want to see out this vintage style in a more responsible price point.

Sold Design Lab - Korye Distressed Skinny Jean, $128

OK. White jeans. Distressed white jeans. You can't see it but these $128 dollar jeans come pre-distressed with holes in the knees. There are very few people who can pull off white jeans. I am not one of them. I looked like a whale which is why you are seeing a picture of the jeans and not me in the jeans.

Verdict: RETURN

Zad - Zoe Open Shape Metal Earrings, $32

These earrings are cute and I like how the shape echoed that of the black and white sleeveless blouse. They are lightweight and about 1 1/2" in length. Ultimately, I didn't need another pair of larger gold earrings.

Verdict: Return


....Just one keeper this month which I suppose is okay. I don't really need to spend the money. But, I was supremely disappointed that two of the pieces were well beyond my approved price range. I did schedule another fix for May but I was clear on my form to please stick to the budget.

Stitch Fix #4

It's Stitch Fix time again, everyone!

I got my fourth Fix last week. It was two days late which made me sad.

But, I also got a hair cut. See what you think in the pictures below! The hair cut is unrelated to the clothing. I just hadn't told you about it yet. :)

Georgiana Cap Sleeve Belted Polka Dot Dress, $98

This navy printed dress is a jersey knit of sorts. I liked the print and the style. I loved that the neckline came up high enough so you wouldn't have to wear a tank top under it.

Unfortunately, they sent it in a 6/8. Never have I ever been a size 6/8. It was also marked as a Medium, which I am. I'm guessing they didn't take the number size into consideration. The top fit fine.

The bottom was much snugger and a less flattering than I would have liked. It was also the most expensive piece.

Verdict: Send back


Ritz Mixed Pattern Front Pocket Knit Shirt, $44

I absolutely adore this t-shirt! Mixing prints is all the rage these days and this one top has three prints all on its own. While I am a bit concerned it might be slightly youthful for this 30-year old, it's too cute to pass up. We'll just pretend I'm a few years younger than my driver's license lets on.

 I think I'll get a lot of use out of it in the coming (hopefully) warmer months. I think it'll look great with jeans, cords, crops, shorts, skirts. Everything!

Malcolm Heathered Dolman Sleeve Knit Shirt, $48

Last month, I kept a deep emerald green dolman sleeve top in the exact same style as this. I haven't worn it yet because it's been too frigid but I love it. I love this top too but I am in a quandary. I have another one in the exact same style and, I have a different style long sleeve shirt in this exact "print". No joke.

So, while I really like it, I'm having a hard time justifying the cost to fill a hole in my wardrobe that doesn't really need filling.

Verdict: Send Back

Abrianna Long Sleeve Knit Cardigan, $48

 Next up is this green, draped cardigan. I think it's cute but it was already snagging in some spots and the finishing on the seams was a bit wonky.

It just didn't seem like great quality, especially for the cost. Some of these designers Stitch Fix uses could stand to go through a bit more vetting.

The sleeves were rightthere on length and there's nothing worse than sleeves that are too short. Nice length in the back but, meh.

Verdict: Send Back

Esten Button-Up Sleeveless Blouse, $54

Lastly, this bright coral, pink sleeveless top. The quality on this was much better and it wasn't sheer at all, which I was worried about. The arm holes weren't gappy and the length was perfect. I think this could transition really well from spring with cardigans and blazers right into summer on it's own.

The blazer is mine but I look really fat in this picture for some reason. It didn't look like that in the mirror.

Cute with shorts and sandals or skinnies and flats. I don't have anything like this in my closet and the color pop is great.

Verdict: Keep!

Creeper Sadie

Overall, a pretty good fix this time. I'm debating when to schedule my next one. I have a birthday coming up which means other presents or.....gift certificates to Stitch Fix! Hint, hint. I haven't loved much of anyone's spring lines at the mall these days so we'll see.

Stitch Fix #3

I hesitated to schedule my third Fix so close to Christmas but when I was disappointed with the second one, I decided I didn't care. As it turns out, I didn't really get that many clothes for Christmas anyway so it's all good.

If you're unfamiliar, StitchFix is an online styling company that will send you 5 pieces for a $20 styling fee after you fill out a detailed questionnaire about your current style, likes, dislikes, sizing and fit. I loved my first one and hated my second one. So, for the third, I requested my original stylist, Cate. I am asking for her every time. It feels like she completely understands my style because with both of her Fixes, I wanted to keep everything. I didn't....but I wanted to.

OK - onto the clothing!

41Hawthorn - Anise Striped Vest, $78

I love a good puffy vest and I liked that this wasn't as thick and puffy as some others in my closet. The navy and white stripe is right up my alley. The gold hardware added a nice touch too. But, I have other vests and I questioned how much I would actually where this. 

Verdict: Sent Back

41Hawthorn - Ivy Abstract Floral Print Tab-Sleeve Blouse, $68

I'm sorry I didn't zoom in enough on this one. The print is a navy and coral medallion with navy accents. This reminded me a bit too much of my mother. Which isn't to say that's a bad thing (calm down, Mom) but the style and print said "Florida" to me. I considered keeping it because I don't have anything like it in my closet but the V was a bit too deep and I would always have to wear a tank top under it. Plus, it was a bit tight at the hips.

Verdict: Sent Back

Kensie Jeans - Sophia Skinny Jeans, $88

The jeans above and below were also included.

I was excited to get these because I currently only have 1 1/2 pairs of workable skinny jeans. The 1/2 is because sometimes I don't think that pair actually works very well at all but sometimes it's fine. Even though these were a bit pricey, I will always spend more than I deem necessary on jeans ever since my first pair of Joe's Jeans. Good jeans are worth every single penny. You can wear the heck out of them and they keep their shape and rinse much better than cheap jeans. Off my soap box....

Back to these Kensie jeans. I loved the rinse and the stretch they had. Unfortunately, the waistband hit me right on my hip bones making them quite uncomfortable and a tad impossible to sit in. Curses.

Verdict: Sent Back

41Hawthorn - Queensland Dolman Jersey Top, $48

I have been wanting a dolman sleeve top for a long time. The style is different than anything in my closet and the color is good for lots of seasons. I think this will look great with a long necklace and boots. It's also very comfortable for those fat days.

Verdict: KEEP!

Fun2Fun - Colibri Heart Print Tab-Sleeve Blouse, $48

This heart blouse is the cutest thing I have ever seen in my life. Before Christmas, the Limited had a heart print sweater that I was dying over. I didn't end up getting it as a gift and could not find it anywhere in my size. I was heartbroken. (Pun intended) I'm pretty sure I squealed with glee when I pulled this out. It's navy blue and the sleeves can be worn 3/4 or rolled up with button tabs. Suffice it to say I will be living in this for the next few months. The fabric has a bit of a sheen but doesn't look cheap. It's going to look great with the brick red cords I got in my first fix and also have been living in.

Verdict: Definite KEEP!

Had I purchased everything my total would have been $232.50 minus the $20 styling fee and with the 25% discount when you keep the whole Fix. A bit rich for my blood....

This time, I told them I didn't want any accessories and I think that worked out great. I have a lot of jewelry already and feel like I have enough options in my closet to accessorize correctly.

I also figured out how to use the timer on my camera because I took these while my chief photographer was shoveling the driveway. What? I offered to help and was turned down.

My next Fix is scheduled for the end of February and I can't wait to see what comes my way. I requested Cate again as my stylist so I know she'll do a great job.
